When natural disasters such as floods, tornados and hurricanes strike, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is there to help communities and individuals get their feet back on the ground. With jurisdiction over FEMA, I am committed to making sure the agency has the necessary funds to address various disasters. Additionally the committee oversees parts of the newly created Homeland Security Department. We need to be committed to America's police, fire and EMS workers who are on the front lines of our homeland defense. Day in and day out they put their lives on the line to protect us. They deserve the best training and equipment we can provide.
